Padraig Dooney

Padraig Dooney is an Actor/Musician/Composer who plays saxophone and piano and spent two years performing in the West End production of Roddy Doyle’s musical version of The Commitments.
AKA Midnight Sax, Padraig is well known as a saxophonist who captivates audiences
with a breathtaking fusion of jazz, funk, rock and pop creating an atmosphere that is both hypnotic and electric.
Padraig first worked with Teatro Nua in the 2022 premiere of Kyron Bourke's No Citation at the Lyric in Belfast. He played the part of Milton (Midnight) Hawkins . The ghostly character of Hawkins looks back on his youth and instils into his story all the pathos of broken dreams, and shattered lives. The recently released single Clean featuring Padraig on tenor sax and vocals is the character's anthem to hopes crushed by drug addiction.
Padraig is a talented composer of music and special effects and is presently working on an original piece (co-written with Sean Dooney) which will be staged as part of the Scene and Heard Festival 2024. SHELF is a live theatre piece and Padraig will perform, record and loop the soundtrack live every night. We are delighted to be collaborating with him on this and other exciting projects.
